Who We Are

Our Focus

Are-U-Prepared Ltd (AUP), is dedicated to ensuring that every care experienced young person receives the tools, support, and guidance they need to make a successful transition into independent living. We also work to ensure that separated children feel confident and supported as they enter the care system. With the right preparation, we believe care experienced young people can build strong, stable futures and achieve their full potential.

Our focus is to:

Prepare care experienced young people in care for independent living.

We start working with care experienced young people from the age of 16, equipping them with essential life skills, confidence, and practical knowledge to live independently.

Prepare separated young people entering care

As part of our focus, we believe that with the right preparation, separated children and young people coming into care can build strong, stable futures and achieve their full potential. We create workshops that explain life in the care system, giving separated children and young people the knowledge, confidence and some insight for coming into care and the understanding of what being in care entails.

Our Founder

Veronica Thomas

I am Veronica Thomas, an independent Social Worker registered with Social Work England and a member of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW). With over fifteen years of experience working with children, young people, and families in social care, I am passionate about making a real difference in the lives of those I support.d

My background includes a wide range of roles—from referral and assessment teams to working within MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub), children in care teams, leaving care teams, and specialised teams for separated children. I have a particular focus on supporting care experienced young people aged 16 and over as they transition into adulthood, especially those navigating the challenges of leaving the care system.

Through my work with AUP, my goal is simple: to empower young people by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to build a successful and fulfilling life beyond care.
